Toby Austin's BirdingEtc

Nothing to see here, move along.

Well, if you really want, here's a very breif history...

BirdingEtc started sometime in the mid 1990's:

Version 1 was pretty much my first attempt at coding a website. Pure HTML. It contained hard-coded lists and trip reports. The source has been lost in the mists of time.

Version 2 was a redesign of v1, once I realised how bad v1 actually looked. I also started adding my daily diary entries (what used to be a notebook). All HTML with a tiny bit of Javascript. It's very dated, but some of it is still in here in the form of old trip reports and the daily diary.

Version 3 merged the v2 website with my blog after I started using that to record my daily birding activity. I now use Facebook to do this, but the blog links to the posts. The blog also remains the central location to access lists, links, and photos. This version also auto-generated some trip reports from the blog.

Version 4 came about after I started using Bird Journal. I began to use this to record my daily entries. I still posted the more interesting sightings on the blog, but this became less and less. This version automated both the diary and the lists. It ran in parallel on another website, so I had BirdingEtc3 and BirdingEtc4.

This version. Version 5? I merged everything into one place and moved to Azure. The website is now .net core (it was just easier). It came about when I closed my company, apiaster and had to move the sites somewhere else.

That's all folks.
